About
Hunting the Rockies the old way
We are a guided hunting outfit in Alberta's Rockies, west-central Alberta mountain country near Nordegg. We hunt a Forest Land Use Zone where motorized vehicles are prohibited, so everything moves on horseback and on foot, out of wall-tent camps, the way it was done here before trucks and quads got into the mountains. We carry on an outfitting tradition that runs more than a hundred years deep in this country.
The country
Our camp is a set of cabins at the junction of the Blackstone and Wapiabi rivers, about 3.5 hours from both the Calgary and Edmonton airports. From there the hunt goes deeper on horseback into country a road never reaches. We hunt bighorn sheep, moose, elk, mule and whitetail deer, black bear and wolf, and we hold the provincial allocations for the species we take. If you have ever wanted to be a hunter the old way, this is where you do it.
How we talk about it
We tell you what a hunt really costs and what the law really requires, in plain numbers. We cite regulations to the official provincial and territorial authorities and date them, because being current is the difference between a real outfit and a website full of stale prices. Our rates are published so you can budget before you ever write. What we cannot prove, we do not claim.
What we will not do
- Invent success rates, testimonials or trophy numbers we cannot stand behind.
- Sell hunts for closed species (BC grizzly has been banned since 2017).
- Print regulation figures we cannot source; we mark those NEEDS VERIFICATION.
- Turn hunting into a culture-war argument. We stick to cost, experience and law.
